Plant Academy supports and reinforces the mission, policies and strategic goals of Facilities and Operations at the University of Michigan. Our training programs and organizational development activities contribute daily to Plant Operations vision as a learning organization. Commitment to ongoing employee knowledge and skills development is a success factor for customer satisfaction, employee satisfaction and excellent performance.
Our training programs are scheduled in the Fall and Winter of each year. Every course offered in Plant Academy reflects the results of training evaluation, need assessment, competency studies, and alignment to the facilities mission at U-M.
We frequently host ‘quick start’ programs on topics relevant to continuous improvement and employee development. Plant Academy collaborates with each Facilities and Operations department on special training initiatives, technical training, employee development programs, cross-functional projects and leadership development. Plant Academy staff contribute to the U-M/AFSCME Leadership Collaboration Group and numerous U-M committees. Plant Academy is the primary sponsor for LearnerWeb and is the project manager for DACUM, a training competency model.
