Waste Bin & Labeling Standardization Update
An effort is underway to standardize waste bins across the University. This effort supports the 2025 goal to reduce waste sent to landfills by 40%. For information on this effort, please visit the Waste Bin Standardization Committee website.

Glass Recycling Temporarily Suspended
Beginning January 1, 2016, the University of Michigan must temporarily suspend the collection of glass for recycling. Glass recycling markets in this area have been depressed for a number of years and have now shutdown. The U-M Waste Reduction & Recycling Office (WRRO) is actively seeking out alternative markets and uses for discarded glass and will communicate to campus when glass is again acceptable for recycling.
